Privacy Statement

This privacy statement discloses the College's privacy practices on this web site. This statement sets out the College’s policies relating to the collection, use and storage of personal information – Personal Information is information about you which identifies you.

Using the Discussion Boards

The College complies with the AMA Code of Ethics and draws your attention specifically to point 2.1. C under ‘Professional Conduct’ which states that one should “refrain from making comments which may needlessly damage the reputation of a colleague”.

Information Collection and Use

The College collects information (including personal information) from our users at several different points on our web site using various forms of technology. The College is the sole owner of the information collected on this web site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement unless you give us specific consent to act otherwise.  We will not disclose personal information about you unless:  it is in accordance with this policy and our terms of use; it is required by law, or, it is to provide you with membership services or promotional mail.

Log Files

We use IP addresses (i.e. the electronic addresses of computers connected to the Internet) to analyse trends, administer the web site, track user's movements, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Collecting Personal Information about you

If you are a College member, we collect personal information about you in order to provide you with Membership services. We collect information from you directly and maintain a record of the status of your membership and a history of your transactions with the College. This information is used for our internal purposes and as a record of your academic and educational attainment and qualifications.

Sharing

We will share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.

We may partner with third parties when providing certain services. When the user signs up for these services, we will share names, or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services. We provide you with an opportunity to opt out of such third party arrangements.

This web site contains links to other web sites. Please be aware that the College is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other web sites. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this web site. You should be aware that when a hyperlink on this web site directs you to an independent web site, you will need to read the privacy statements of that web site to determine how that web site collects and uses personally identifiable information. The College is not responsible for how independent web sites collect and use personal information.

Password

In order to protect the privacy of personal information that the College collects, you must take reasonable steps to ensure that your password is not disclosed to any other person or compromised in any way. You should regularly change your website password and in setting a password you should use a combination of letters (upper and lower case), numbers and special characters.

Security

As the security of Internet communications can be breached in some circumstances, the College cannot warrant the security of information you give us or that you receive from our web site or via e-mail while that information is being transmitted. However, when we receive any information from you, we will use all reasonable efforts to maintain its security and to keep this information accurate and up-to-date. Your information is stored in secure servers. Our employees are obliged to respect the personal information held by the College. Please notify us immediately if there is any unauthorised use of your account.

Notification of Changes

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our Homepage so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users by way of an email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner.

Correction/Updating Personal Information

If a user's personally identifiable information changes (such as your postcode), or if a user no longer desires our service, we will endeavour to provide a way to correct, update or remove that user's personal data provided to us.
