
RCPA Visiting Lectureship (to Overseas) Nomination
The RCPA Visiting Lecturer (to Overseas) will be a Fellow of the College or other person with expertise in pathology, who will be able to present state-of-the-art education in an area of their choice. The Visiting Lecturer (to Overseas) will, as a rule, be required to visit each of Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia and will be expected to spend several days in each country.
Fellows can nominate other Fellows or non-Fellows with expertise in Pathology for the RCPA Visiting Lectureship.
Traditionally the Visiting Lecturer (to Overseas) is from Australia or New Zealand and visits South East Asia. Recommendations or advice from our Fellows in South East Asia regarding persons or disciplines they feel would be of value in visiting their country(s) are genuinely welcomed.

Education (Travel) or Technical Assistance (Research)
Consideration will be given to requests for research projects and for expenses associated with educational activities designed to enhance the professional skills of the applicant. Requests for support for research will be considered for the remuneration of laboratory or non-laboratory staff (but not for secretarial assistance) and for the purchase of equipment and consumables. Support will not be provided for the personal remuneration of the applicant, for attendance at conferences, or for the costs arising from publications or a thesis.
Requests for support for educational activities will be considered for travel and accommodation expenses (but not for conferences), for workshops offering enhancement of specific or broadly-defined skills relevant to the practice of pathology, and for consumables which may be needed to enable participation in an educational activity.

RCPA Research Award
The RCPA Research Award has been established by The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in order to foster research and promote academic excellence in the science of pathology. It may be awarded to a Trainee or Fellow for a course of study and supervised research leading to the award of a degree at doctorate level in any of the disciplines of pathology.

Kanematsu/Novo Nordisk Research Award
The Kanematsu/Novo Nordisk Research Award is made biannually by the Kanematsu Fund in memory of its founder Fusajiro Kanematsu and his wife Sen. The award is made for a single medical research project in the area of haematological disorders. It is open to recent Fellows (less than 5 years) and Trainees.

Eddie Hirst Memorial Prize
The Eddie Hirst Memorial Prize is awarded to the Australian candidate who gains the highest aggregate mark in the Pathological Sciences Examination. This Prize was set up in memory of Dr Edmond Hirst, former Head of the Department of Anatomical Pathology at Sydney Hospital, who was influential in establishing training programs.

Neil Prentice Memorial Prize
The Neil Prentice Memorial Prize is awarded to the New Zealand candidate who gains the highest aggregate mark in the Pathological Sciences Examination. This Prize was donated in memory of Dr Neil Prentice, an eminent pathologist who contributed much to pathology and medicine in New Zealand, including Presidency of the New Zealand Society of Pathologists.

D S Nelson Trainee Prize
The RCPA offers the DS Nelson Trainee Prize for the best oral presentation of original research by a Trainee at the RCPA Pathology Update. It is awarded in honour of the late Professor David Selwyn Nelson, a distinguished pathologist, whose research covered haematology, immunology and microbiology. David Nelson was the editor of Pathology from 1985 to 1988.

RCPA Quality Assurance Programs Trainee Awards
RCPA/QAP offer oral presentation and poster prizes for work presented by Trainees at Pathology Update. The awards are judged and presented on the day.
Dr Robert Edwards Leadership Bursary for Fellows or Trainees
The College Council is delighted to offer this bursary which has been made possible by the generosity of past President, Dr Robert Edwards. The Fellowship is indebted to him and appreciative of this wonderful gesture which will go a long way to offering a very different opportunity to a number of Fellows and/or Trainees.
Requests for support to spend time with a recognised leader in pathology will be considered highly. Requests for support for educational activities designed to support the development of leadership skills will be considered. This will include cost of registration, travel and accommodation expenses and any associated text books/course material. Support will not be provided for the personal remuneration of the applicant, but will cover travel and associated living expense while undertaking the placement.
