The following are the cancer datasets developed by the International Collaboration on Cancer Reporting. Each has been developed by an expert panel. Each dataset includes Required and Recommended elements. These are suggested mandatory and optional items from the expert committee.
Required elements are those which are essential for the clinical management, staging or prognosis of the cancer. These elements will either have evidentiary support at Level III-2 or above (based on prognostic factors in the NHMRC levels of evidence1 document)a. In rare circumstances, where level III-2 evidence is not available an element may be Required where there is unanimous agreement in the expert committee. An appropriate staging system eg Pathological TNM staging would normally be included as a required element.
The datasets are provided in a number of formats:
Bookmarked guide designed to be printed or viewed on screen. When viewed on a screen click on “Note n” and it will take you to the relevant note, then click on “back” to return to where you were in the guide.
Hyperlinked guide designed to be viewed when connected to the internet. When online, click on any book icon to open the explanatory text on that element.
A MS Word document which includes the dataset content to assist with implementation.
A MS Excel document which includes the dataset content to assist with implementation (Please note that this version does not contain an images).
