Cytomegalovirus Ab. Cytomegalovirus detection using urine, buffy coat or tissue may be required; NAA and CMV viral load in post transplant patients (Virus detection).

Histological identification of virus and its cytopathic effects in infected cells (biopsy of eg, lung, liver, colon, kidney) is a more specific test for infection than is demonstration of excretion of virus.
