Appropriate Tests

 

Clinical assessment to detect underlying disorder. Full blood count, Aspartate aminotransferase, Alanine aminotransferase, Alkaline phosphatase, Gamma glutamyltransferase, Lactate dehydrogenase, Bilirubin, Lipase or Amylase, Antinuclear Ab as appropriate.

Diagnosis established by deep skin biopsy, including subcutaneous fat.

Trauma, especially

 

  • Cold injury

 

Pancreatitis

 

Lymphoma (non-Hodgkin)

 

SLE

 

Alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency

Alpha-1-antitrypsin.

Idiopathic (Weber-Christian disease)
