Pathology Tests

The test listing includes most of the tests available to the clinician. The entries are brief. Where further information is required the reader should consult the pathologist.

Some of the tests listed in the RCPA Manual may have specific laboratory requirements. Please consult your local laboratory for further details.

Where reference intervals are included, please note that although most laboratory methods are now standardised, inter-laboratory differences may still occur. Individual results should be assessed using the reference intervals quoted by the pathology laboratory performing the test.

Background information about the Pathology Services section of the Australian Government Medicare Benefits Schedule can be found at Medicare-Benefits-Schedule-MBS.
