Specimen:

5 mL blood in plain tube.

Method:

Indirect IF (endomysial). Immunoassay (transglutaminase) measured.

Reference Interval:

Consult laboratory.

Application:

Diagnosis of Coeliac disease and Dermatitis herpetiformis.

Interpretation:

IgA endomysial antibodies IgA transglutaminase antibodies have a specificity of >90% for the diagnosis of Coeliac disease. The test may be negative in patients with Coeliac disease associated with IgA deficiency.
