Metanephrine   < 1.30 µmol/24 h

Normetanephrine   < 3.0 µmol/24 h

3-Methoxytyramine   < 2.7 µmol/24 h

Application:

Detection of catecholamine producing tumours. Some drugs can interfere with this assay - consult pathologist.

Interpretation:

Elevated levels are seen in Phaeochromocytoma, Neuroblastoma or ganglio­neuroblastoma.
