Transglutaminase Ab

Keywords: Transglutaminase antibody, Transglutaminase antibody IgA

Specimen:

5 mL blood in plain tube

Method:

Immunoassay.

Reference Interval:

Consult laboratory

Application:

Aids in diagnosis of Coeliac disease and Dermatitis herpetiformis.

Interpretation:

A raised IgA to transglutaminase is suggestive of the diagnosis of Coeliac disease. False negative results may occur if the patient is on a gluten free diet or had IgA deficiency. A markedly raised IgA to transglutaminase is more closely associated with Coeliac disease.
