RCPA External Awards

The following Awards are offered by the College to Journalists, Medical and Dental students and Pathologists or Pathology Trainees from Developing Countries.

RCPA Media Awards

The RCPA Media Awards are for excellence in journalism relating to pathology, the award is based on published articles.

RCPA Scholarships in Pathology for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) & Maori Medical Students

Available for medical students undertaking the Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent at Australian and New Zealand universities. Each year, one scholarship is available in Australia for an Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander student and one scholarship is available in New Zealand for a Maori student. The successful applicant will be selected on a competitive basis by the Chair of the Board of Education and Assessment. A link to the policy and application will be found below.

RCPA Scholarships in Pathology for Medical Schools

Available for medical students undertaking the Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent at Australian and New Zealand universities (one per main campus), two scholarships for Papua New Guinea and one each for Fiji, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.

RCPA Sponsorship in Pathology for Students in Dental Schools and for Students undertaking Science Degrees

One Award is available annually for one Dental and one student undertaking a Science degree.

RCPA Sponsored Pathologists from Developing Communities to attend Pathology Update

The College will provide, on an annual basis, funding to cover two (2) pathologists or pathology registrars from developing communities to attend Pathology Update. Applicants may be Pathologists or Trainees who are able to verify (via Department/Institution Head) that they are currently actively practicing pathology in a developing community. The College will provide each successful applicant with:

  • Economy return airfare
  • Hotel accommodation for three nights including breakfast
  • Full registration cover for Pathology Update (excluding Workshops) which includes morning/afternoon tea and lunches plus social events
