The Power of Pathology – Toby’s Adventures
The College has distributed copies of the DVD featured in the recent Blood, Bugs and Bodies exhibit at the Powerhouse Museum to 11,300 schools across Australia. The seven minute film features the adventures of 12 year old Toby, a skateboarder, who through a series of adventures and mishaps learns about basic pathology concepts.The film has been distributed as part of our Jubilee Year celebrations, in conjunction with the Australian Science Teachers Association, for National Science Week. InView® is a new software platform aimed at training pathologists and biomedical scientists in diagnostic cytology and histology. InView® uses a completely innovative approach to education in diagnostic practice by case-based diagnostic simulation using digital slides, virtual microscopy, decision analysis and instructional video.

Key Performance Indicator Pilot Project
Information on the Key Performance Indicator Pilot Project can be found in the letter sent to all laboratories holding NATA/RCPA accreditation for Medical Testing, and those who have applied for accreditation. The letter outlines and explains the details of a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Pilot Project now being undertaken. The project will monitor the adequacy of ongoing performance in the interval between the routine three-yearly NATA assessment visits. The letter relates only to Chemical Pathology and Cytopathology. Procedures covering other disciplines are under consideration but not yet at the stage of firm proposals.
