As a result of ongoing technology advances, large portions of the human genome can be assessed at a time (“genomics”). The range of clinical decisions determined by genomic test results is now expanding rapidly.

This introductory is being offered by the College as a response to the growing need for all pathologists to understand the practical applications of genomic and molecular technologies.

The course is primarily focused on the needs of early stage trainees in all pathology sub-disciplines, and it is assumed that participants will have little or no prior knowledge. Many practicing Fellows also attended the inaugural course last year. Their feedback indicated that the program is also a useful CPD opportunity for Fellows seeking to learn more about the topic. Candidates preparing for the BPS exam are also welcome.

The course organisers are David Ravine, Sandra O’Toole, Ron Trent, Meg Wall, Penny Coates and William Sewell. Registrations will be limited, so it is advisable to register early once registrations are open.
