On behalf of The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, I invite you to the 9th annual Anatomical Pathology and Laboratory Skills Workshop at The Mercure Ballarat Hotel and Convention Centre in Ballarat in the Victorian Goldfields. This four-day workshop covers skills needed for microscopy, discussion of the Part 1 examinations and examination process, laboratory skills such as frozen section and tissue staining and a full day of lectures from specialist anatomical pathologists in Victoria.
Now into its 9th year, this is a workshop for second year Anatomical Pathology trainees to help prepare for the Part 1 examinations and DOPS. Any registrars attempting the Part 1 examination in 2021 are also encouraged to attend. This workshop is also open to medical practitioners and medical students with an interest in pathology or a possible career in anatomical pathology. The workshop will provide insights into this important field of medicine and valuable experience and training.
The workshop is informal, and I strongly encourage you to all participate in the practical sessions as much as possible and ask our scientists and pathologists as many questions as possible. Senior scientists will be in attendance during the practical sessions so please take this opportunity to discuss laboratory skills with them. We are very fortunate to be joined by a number of keynote speakers from many different laboratories in Victoria who are experts in their field and provide a practical approach to histopathology.
