Pre-conference Workshops
There are 3 pre-conference workshops on Thursday 1 March 2018 at the International Convention Centre, Sydney.

Workshop 1: Supervisor Workshop - Promoting Equity in Training

This workshop is for supervisors from all disciplines and faculties and for those interested in becoming supervisors. Attending the workshop will mean that the supervisors, and prospective supervisors, are accredited for 5 years. Pathology Update provides a valuable meeting place for Supervisors of specialist training to engage with one another to discuss issues pertaining to training. The workshop, “Promoting Equity in Training” will enable Supervisors from a range of disciplines to share their approaches and experiences.

Workshop 2: Mentoring in practice

This workshop is for all fellows and senior trainees who are interested in mentoring trainees, new fellows and others. Speakers will offer their own experiences of the benefits and challenges with some helpful tips, and the workshop will conclude with a practical framework presented by Dr Joel Wight, an RCPA trainee and co-author of ‘The Intentional Mentor in Medicine’.

Workshop 3: Faculty of Science Dinner Lecture: Leading Change

The workshop is designed to provide attendees with an update on the newest developments in all areas of pathology practice which will impact upon all areas of pathology. These transformational concepts may eventually influence routine practice in areas as diverse as informatics, screening and diagnostic testing and anatomical pathology. Come and hear about the revolution occurring around your laboratory. Speakers are Prof Mark Baker, Prof Andrew Georgiou and A/Prof David Ranson.
