IQA Frameworks are available for each discipline of pathology. The Frameworks are practice based and provide a collaborative and transparent approach to internal quality assurance. The Frameworks outline activities pathologists can participate in, focusing on peer-review and clinical audit (where relevant to each discipline). Practising pathologists are required to provide documented evidence of involvement in these activities, from 01 January 2016 for Anatomical Pathology and from 01 January 2017 for all other disciplines.

The General Pathology IQA Framework allows Fellows to choose internal quality activities from within applicable discipline specific IQA Frameworks. These activities will need to be relevant to the scope of practice and reflect the work required of a General Pathologist within that particular laboratory.
