Pain, swelling, redness, oedema, limitation of movement, and possibly systemic symptoms and signs

Microscopy and culture, serology, histopathology.

Blood culture, Urea, Electrolytes, Glucose, consider Liver function tests, Urate and C-Reactive protein, Full blood count, Ward test urine and MCS if positive, joint fluid MCS.
