Group A streptococci


Appropriate Tests

Can cause Pharyngitis, Cellulitis, Rheumatic fever, nephritis, Septicaemia and necrotising fasciitis.

Blood culture, Wound swab, Throat swab or tissue swab.

Serology: Antistreptolysin O titre or Anti-deoxyribonuclease B Ab to assess exposure.
