Lymph node biopsy or tissue biopsy: excision biopsy preferred over fine needle aspiration biopsy, Full blood count, Blood film, Erythrocyte sedimentation rate, Bone marrow biopsy (aspiration and trephine).

Histological findings and extent of disease (staging) are of importance in defining prognosis and determining appropriate management.

Review clinical features. Full blood count, Erythrocyte sedimentation rate; Bilirubin, Aspartate aminotransferase, Alanine aminotransferase, Alkaline phosphatase, Lactate dehydrogenase. Diagnostic imaging. Liver biopsy.
