Infections in returned travellers


Appropriate Tests

Fever and localising symptoms and signs. If Malaria is a possibility it must be excluded urgently (same day)

Consider Blood culture (typhoid), Blood film (thick and thin for Malaria), Virus detection including HIV serology (see Dengue and HIV infection), and then assays compatible with symptoms and signs see specific disease below.
