Appropriate Tests

 

The diagnosis is based on clinical features, imaging and elevated C-Reactive protein (performed urgently); Erythrocyte sedimentation rate, Full blood count.

Temporal artery biopsy - treatment should not be withheld pending the result of this investigation.

Fever

 

Headache

 

Visual loss

 

Polymyalgia rheumatica

 

Cranial nerve palsies

 

Anaemia
