RCPA encourages sex and gender diverse people to be informed about pathology testing to prevent misdiagnosis

The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) strongly encourages sex and gender diverse individuals to be informed about pathology testing related to themselves. Due to a lack of medical research, there are no reliable reference intervals specific to transgender patients in most instances, which could put patients at risk of misdiagnosis. A pamphlet which explains this issue to patients was launched today by the RCPA, on International Transgender Day of Visibility.
