The Staff Specialist will provide high quality diagnostic, consultative, procedural and on-call specialty services in Haematology, and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities commensurate with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.

The Staff Specialist will ensure a high standard of professional performance and, where required, the encouragement of an academic environment which supports research and development.

The Staff Specialist is required to provide clinical and consultative services at Bankstown and Liverpool Hospitals. Because of the large consultative load in obstetric haematology, the position would include particular responsibility in this area.

The Staff Specialist is required to participate in rostered clinical and laboratory responsibilities of the haematology department based at Liverpool Hospital and providing services to the hospitals of South Western Sydney LHD.

Applications are sought for a 0.7 Staff Specialist in Haematology position at Bankstown and Liverpool Hospitals. Expertise and prior experience in Obstetric Haematology is desirable. The successful applicant would join a department of 11.0 FTE haematologists who provide an integrated clinical and laboratory haematology service across the six hospitals of South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD)

This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand Policy Directive PD2011_005 Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination against specified diseases. All new recruits must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. New recruits must provide evidence against specified diseases and comply with the requirements of this policy at their own cost prior to appointment.
