Dr David Van Ly was a RCPA Scholarships recipient in 2019. His project work into uveal melanoma was published and subsequently increased his pathology understanding. Professor Wendy Erber is a Fellow and a RCPA Scholarships supervisor and she finds the projects just as rewarding as the students do. We thank both Professor Erber and Dr Van Ly for sharing their experience.
Student Scholarships are available annually for medical students undertaking the Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent at Australian and New Zealand universities with one scholarship per main campus. In addition, there is one scholarship available for:
- An Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander medical student
- A Maori medical student
- A medical student in rural or regional setting
- A medical student in Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia
- A dental student
- A student undertaking a Bachelor of Science or equivalent
You may be eligible for more than one scholarship in the application process and we encourage you to apply when you meet the criteria. However only one scholarship may be awarded per student.
The scholarships are to support a project associated with pathology. The project is to be jointly developed by the student and supervisor who is a RCPA Fellow. The project runs for one elective term or the duration of the Bachelor of Medicine, or equivalent, degree course. Recipients receive complimentary registration to the RCPA's annual conference, Pathology Update, for the following year.
We encourage all science, medical and dental students to apply. If you need assistance in connecting with a project supervisor or require further assistance, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
